Power and battery life aren't amazing, but if you just need a cheap, durable Chromebook for remote learning or getting writing done, this is a great choice.

There are areas where the IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook Plus falls short of the standard set by the Asus and Acer competition. The screen doesn't go as bright, colours aren't as vibrant, the overall feel isn't quite as premium and the performance and battery life don't quite match up. Lenovo sells a slightly more expensive version with a Core i5 1235U and a larger 512GB SSD, but that won't change the design, materials, battery life, or screen.

Chromebook Plus brings a small bevy of subtle improvements to what was already the best Chromebook for the masses. This no-nonsense laptop ticks all the essential boxes for an everyday laptop and does it for a reasonable price.

Lenovo doesn’t make many mistakes here. A few things could be better, but not much as only weak speaker volume and mediocre battery life keep it from full marks. This is simply an excellent Chromebook that doesn’t skimp on quality or features.

Call it a solid mid-range Chromebook with hints of premium features and performance. Looking at it from that perspective, know that you’re getting an excellent laptop with the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook Plus. Like I said, I’m a ChromeOS power user. And if I can be happy with the Flex 5i for my daily use, most of you probably can be too.
