The Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Gen) is a meaningful upgrade over previous versions thanks to the new redesign, upgraded AI features, improved monitoring and simpler installation. The higher price could be a turnoff for some but you do get a temperature sensor bundled with the thermostat.

Google's new Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) is very similar to its predecessor regarding functionality, but it now features a sleek-looking, futuristic design and a packed-in temperature sensor.

The Google Nest Thermostat (4th gen) improves a lot about the 3rd gen, creating a more polished experience. And while it is pricey, the fit and finish can't be beat.

If your thermostat is in a visible spot in your home—mine's at the top of the stairs right near the front door, so it's one of the first things I see—it doesn't hurt to spend a little more to have something that looks nice. If your thermostat is tucked away in a corner, and you don't mind fiddling with it, you may as well go with a cheaper option.

There’s a lot to like about the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen). It’s as easy to use as it’s beautiful to look at, and it’s bursting with features that can help reduce your electric bills and shrink your carbon footprint.

Overall, despite the installation issues, we like it, but there are still situations where we're going to recommend the Ecobee. If you don't need those extra features, the Nest Learning Thermostat 4th-generation is fantastic option to consider.
